Business Torts
Business torts include a number of different type of claims including:
- tortuous interference with contractual relations,
- fraud,
- negligent misrepresentation,
- intentional misrepresentation,
- unfair trade practices,
- commercial disparagement,
- bad faith,
- breach of fiduciary duties,
- misappropriation of proprietary information or trade secrets,
- interference with prospective business advantage.
Frank Lamothe has had extensive experience in litigating various business torts. He is the co-author of a publication entitled Business Torts in Louisiana. He is also the author of a paper entitled “Breach of Fiduciary Duties in Louisiana.” Mr. Lamothe is the past chair of the Business Torts Section of the American Trial Lawyers’ Association. He is a member of the Business Torts Committee of the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association and is co-chair of the Fiduciary Duties Subcommittee.
